Purchasing a home is a major life decision and one that takes money, research, and a bit of faith and luck. Especially if you are a first-time homebuyer, no amount of reassuring by friends or family can prepare you for the real-estate jungle. Many questions are sure to come up - and many of them valid questions. "Can I afford a new home?" "Is my job secure enough?" "Can I pay a mortgage every month?" "Am I sure that this is a safe neighborhood?" These and many other questions will most certainly come up during the homebuying process, and one may come up that may take some careful consideration? "Should I hold off and rent for the time-being?" An especially good question to ask yourself if the real-estate market is not in great shape, or if you simply aren't finding the perfect home. So what to do? Let's say that you are considering moving to Edmonton, and although the city seems to be a perfect place for you (and your family), you don't really know the city well enough to know where you might want to live. Why not consider renting for the first year to find out what part of the city you like? If you are single, perhaps looking into Edmonton Apartments is a great idea. Most apartments are smaller than condos and townhomes, so if you are sans kids and family, this may be the way to go. However, if you have pets, especially dogs, you may want to consider renting a house in Edmonton. This way you'll have a yard for the little furballs, and if you have kids, a house in a good neighborhood will hopefully give them a chance to meet some new friends. Getting a good perspective on a new city landscape is often times better by renting a home instead of making the commitment to purchasing.
